Get Out More!

Get out more! Ever wanted to learn to kitesurf, paddleboard, surf, wakeboard or windsurf?

Now’s the time to start checking out the watersports lessons available along the Jurassic Coast and even further down into the South West in Devon and Cornwall.

You’re never too old – or too young – to hit the waves.

It’s a great way to get some exercise, enjoy the fantastic coastline and see our wonderful beaches, cliffs and shores from a whole new perspective.

Paddleboarding is more popular than ever, and a bit easier to get the hang of than surfing or wakeboarding.

Surfing and windsurfing can be dependent on the right waves and winds, while for no-holds adrenalin fuelled action kitesurfing is your best bet!

You should get out more!

We founded Ocean Rocks to celebrate the coast and encourage people to enjoy all that it offers.

OCEANROCKS John Tourgout said: “The Ocean Rocks family have grown up in Cornwall and Dorset, and know Devon well too, so we all love the coast.

“We’re looking forward to getting out more this summer and hope you do too!”

Our ‘Get Out More’ t-shirt captures this perfectly, while we also have surf, foodie, fossil and walking themed tees in our shop too – all celebrating life on the coast.

On the Jurassic Coast, try the Paracademy Extreme for kitesurfing lessons. They’re based at Portland Harbour and you’ll be riding the very same waters used in the 2012 Olympics.

For paddleboarding, try the Weymotuh Watersports and Fitness Club or the Watersports Academy in Poole or Land and Wave at Swanage.

Or maybe diving, jetskiing, waterskiiing, sailing or kayaking is more your thing? Check out the Andrew Simpson Watersports Centre at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy – the venue for the 2012 Olympics – to find out about sailing taster sessions.

Your best bet for surf lessons is Bournemouth. Check out Sorted Surf School, Surf Steps and Shaka Surf.

And that’s just in Dorset. Devon and Cornwall are also meccas for watersports.

These are just a few suggestions so remember to carefully check out all the schools for yourself before signing up to make sure they have all properly accredited and insured etc.

But if you don’t fancy something so energetic, the coast is also great for relaxing – whether it’s chilling on the beach, fossil-hunting going for walks, swimming, camping, enjoying a picnic or a drink.
